Florida hospital launches training program for new robotic system: 3 insights

Practice Management

Celebration, Fla.-based Nicholson Center teamed up with CMR Surgical to launch a training program for the device company's Versius surgical robotic system.

Here are three insights:

1. CMR Surgical partnered with the hospital to train 27 surgical teams, including more than 100 healthcare professionals.

2. Versius is designed to be a portable robotic surgery system. With individually cart-mounted arms, Versius can be moved between operating rooms.

3. The robotic surgery system comprises 3D vision and a choice of ergonomic working positions to give the surgeon control.

"The Nicholson Center's goal is to continue offering surgeons the ability to train on the latest and most advanced medical technology, and CMR Surgical's Versius fits the bill," said Roger Smith, PhD, chief technology officer at the hospital. "This collaboration allows surgeons a chance to safely and realistically train with a completely unique, yet user-friendly, operating style, increasing their confidence levels before using the technology in the field."
