Moreno Valley, Calif.-based Riverside University Health System Medical Center earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in total hip and total knee replacement, InlandEmpire.US reports.
The Joint Commission established the advanced certification in response to growing rates of total hip or total knee replacement surgery. The CDC said approximately 7 million Americans are living with a hip or knee replacement.
RUHS Medical Center underwent an onsite review by The Joint Commission inspectors in September. The program was assessed for compliance with advanced disease-specific care standards and total hip and total knee replacement requirements, such as orthopedic consultation and follow-up care.
