Orthopaedic Institute for Children breaks ground on new medical pavilion: 4 things to know

Practice Management

Construction began on a new medical pavilion at Los Angeles-based Orthopaedic Institute for Children.

Here are four things to know:

1. The new medical pavilion involves a major reconstruction of the OIC 1959 Lowman Building. The new pavilion will feature an expanded urgent care center and pharmacy, the largest pediatric fracture clinic in the U.S., physical therapy center, imaging center, lecture hall, three classrooms and a virtual reality surgical training lab.

2. The redesigned urgent care center will have 14 private exam rooms, two triage rooms and two procedure rooms exclusively for musculoskeletal injuries.

3. The project is expected to be complete in winter 2019.

4. OIC is currently more than halfway to its $20 million "Vision for our Future" capital campaign, of which the new pavilion is the centerpiece.
