Connecticut hospital's total joint replacement program raises patient satisfaction scores 12%

The new total joint program at Danbury (Conn.) Hospital's Joint and Spine Institute has increased patient satisfaction scores, according to the newstimes.

Here are three things to know:

1. The program has increased satisfaction scores by 12 percent in its first two months, increased the number of patients discharged to home instead of a nursing facility and decreased hospital length of stay after total joint replacement surgery.

2. Danbury Hospital performs approximately 900 joint replacement surgeries each year.

3. The total joint program features a dedicated joint unit, personalized patient guidance and other changes, including allowing patients to wear their own clothing, simulating a normal home schedule, a daily newsletter and group physical therapy programs.
