Texarkana, Texas-based Christus St. Michael hospital implemented its second Makoplasty system for robotic arm-guided knee and hip surgery.

1. Christus St. Michael is the only hospital in Texas region to offer Makoplasty technology, which it first introduced to Texarkana and its surrounding communities in 2011.
2. Using a CT scan of the patient's knee or hip, the system is designed to provide a pre-surgical plan that details the technique for bone preparation and customized implant positioning.
3. Makoplasty provides a 3D, virtual view of the patient's bone surface during surgery and correlates the image to the pre-programmed surgical plan.
4. Designed for more optimal implant positioning and placement, the system's robotic arm provides acoustic and visual feedback to limit bone preparation to the diseased areas.
