Practice Management

CEO and President of Pain Specialists of Greater Chicago Scott Glaser, MD, his wife, Anne, and daughter, Elise, will travel to Siguatepeque, Honduras, in November to continue providing interventional pain management care at Hospital Evangelico.

Here are six insights:

1. Dr. and Mrs. Glaser first became aware of a medical need at Hospital Evangelico in 2017, after traveling to Comayagua, Honduras, in support of the orphanage All God's Children.

2. The nonprofit hospital is led by Nahim Nasralla, MD, general surgeon and former chief of surgery at Oak Lawn, Ill.-based Advocate Christ Medical Center.

3. Dr. and Mrs. Glaser started the Friends of Evangelico mission, which raised more than $30,000 to help start a hospice and interventional pain management program at Hospital Evangelico.

4. With the funds, Dr. and Mrs. Glaser were able to bring Dr. Xenia Castillo, and her husband, Dr. Felix Canos to an American Society of International Pain Physicians pain management cadaver course in Phoenix, where they received hands-on training with Dr. Glaser.

5. United Surgical Partners International and Hinsdale (Ill.) Surgical Center, where Dr. Glaser practices, recently donated an OEC 9800 C-arm to Hospital Evangelico.

6. Dr. Glaser, Anne and Elise, who is studying pre-med, will be traveling to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to treat patients and continue Dr. Castillo's training.
