2 Mississippi-based orthopedic groups merge: 5 things to know

Tupelo, Miss.-based North East Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and North Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Clinic of Tupelo have plans to merge next month, according to the Daily Journal.

 

Here are five things to know:

1. The merged group will include six orthopedic surgeons, and it will be called Orthopaedic Institute of North Mississippi.

2. The merger is effective Sept. 4, and North Mississippi Sports Medicine will move from its current location to join the physicians at North East Orthopaedics at Midtown Pointe.

3. The two groups have collaborated over the years, referring patients to each other based on areas of expertise. Post-merger, everyone will be under the same roof.

4. Another orthopedic surgeon, Barry Clark, MD, who currently practices in South Carolina, will join the merged group in October.

5. Orthopaedic Institute of North Mississippi will include specialists focusing on hip and knee replacement, sports medicine, arthroscopy, hand surgery, foot and ankle care as well as shoulder replacements.
