University of Florida Health in Gainesville opened its UF Health Comprehensive Spine Center.

The new center is located in the UF Health Neuromedicine Hospital in Gainesville.

The center will take a multidisciplinary approach to spine care, featuring neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, pain physicians and neurologists.

"Our multidisciplinary approach will allow us to address the reasons behind back pain more quickly," said Kevin Vincent, MD, PhD, medical operations director of UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Gainesville. "This will lead to less use of medications that frequently aren't beneficial, particularly narcotics and muscle relaxants. Additionally, it will lead to more appropriate use of advanced imaging and testing."
