Barton Health opens $15M orthopedic center: 5 insights

South Lake Tahoe, Calif.-based Barton Health cut the ribbon on its new $15 million orthopedic center, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

Here are five insights:

1. The new orthopedic clinic is located in the Robert Maloof Center on the Barton Health medical campus in South Lake Tahoe. Barton Health plans to hire 10 new staff members.

2. Barton Health began construction on the orthopedic and wellness center in August 2016. It was initially scheduled to open in September 2017; however, heavy snow and rain caused setbacks in development.

3. The 26,000-square-foot building is equipped with an aquatic center, X-ray technology and new rehabilitation tools. Physicians at the center will emphasize a holistic approach/

4. Various donations, including a $10 million gift from philanthropist Lisa Maloff, helped open the new orthopedic center.

5. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association designated Barton Health's orthopedic center as a certified center of excellence. The center plans to expand its rehabilitation services for elite winter athletes.
