Carolina Orthopaedics' mentoring program introduces students to surgical careers — 4 insights

Murrells Inlet, S.C.-based Carolina Orthopaedics launched its 2018 Medical Mentoring Program to expose students to medical careers.

Here are four things to know:

1. Thirty high school seniors in the Horry County (S.C.) and Georgetown County (S.C.) School Districts are participating in the 12-week program, which runs from June 6 to August 21.

2. The mentoring program aims to introduce students to careers in orthopedic and spine surgery, general surgery, sports medicine and radiology, among other healthcare roles.

3. Students can participate in the program at Carolina Orthopaedics' flagship clinic in Murrells Inlet, which includes the Carolina Coast Surgery Center, and its clinic in Myrtle Beach.

4. The program is in its third year and has graduated 104 students from nine area high schools.
