Baystate Orthopedic Surgery Center wins $3.8M expansion approval: 5 takeaways

Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health received unanimous approval from the Public Health Council to continue expanding the Baystate Orthopedic Surgery Center, also in Springfield, according to Mass Live.

Here are five takeaways.

1. Baystate Health has $3.8 million to expand the orthopedic surgery center.

2. When the health system first built the orthopedic center in 2011, it included six operating rooms and 21 pre- and post-operative rooms.

3. The project includes the development of two new ambulatory surgery ORs and seven pre-and post-operative care rooms.

4. Baystate Health expects the expansion to be completed in January 2019.

5. Baystate Orthopedic is a satellite center of Springfield-based Baystate Medical Center.
