Phoenix-based orthopedic group The CORE Institute added pain management specialist Jason R. Sherman, MD, and orthopedic spine surgeon Tajdip Sandhu, MD, to its team.

Here's what you should know about the providers.

1. Dr. Sherman joined The CORE Institute's Interventional Spine Division, and Dr. Sandhu joined the Spine Division.

2. Dr. Sherman previously practiced at Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Southwest Spine and Sports, where he underwent fellowship training in pain control and spine intervention.

3. After attending Wright State University School of Medicine, Dr. Sherman completed an internship and residency at Columbus-based The Ohio State University. He served as chief resident at OSU and a member of the university's medical education committee.

4. Dr. Sherman is a member of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

5. Dr. Sandhu's specializations in spine care include trauma, degenerative (both open and minimally invasive), tumor, deformity and disc replacement.

6. Dr. Sandhu graduated from the Los Angeles-based University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and completed his residency in the Keck Los Angeles County + USC Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He continued his education with a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital-Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

7. While in medical school, Dr. Sandhu researched oral cancer prevention and implemented educational programs for at-risk youth in southern India. In addition, he represented Keck School of Medicine with the California Medical Association.

8. Dr. Sandhu is involved with several orthopedic spine societies.
