Gov. Charlie Baker appointed Michael Dean Medlock, MD, to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, according to The Salem News.
Here are five points:
1. The neurosurgeon treats patients at North Shore Medical Center Salem (Mass.) Hospital and is an assistant visiting surgeon at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital.
2. He serves as president of the Massachusetts Association of Neurosurgeons.
3. Dr. Medlock previously was chief of neurosurgery at Chicago-based North Shore Medical Center as well as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University Medical Center.
4. The state board is an independent agency managing licensing, regulation and discipline of physicians and acupuncturists.
5. The governor appoints members to three-year terms; the board encompasses five physicians and two public professionals.
