CMS added new performance information to the Physician Compare website.

The next phase of the agency's public reporting began in December 2017, posting 2016 performance information on Physician Compare, which is downloadable here.

Here are five things to know:

1. A subset of the 2016 Physician Quality Reporting System measures are reported as star ratings. The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems for PQRS summary survey measures and non-PQRS Qualified Clinical Data Registry measures are reported.

2. The non-PQRS QCDR measures are available for groups and individual clinicians while 2016 CAHPS for PQRS measures are only available for groups and are reported as a percent on the relevant pages.

3. The performance information is divided into categories that include preventative care, patient safety, care planning, diabetes and behavioral health.

4. CMS also reported the 2016 Shared Savings Program, Pioneer and Next Generation ACO data is available and publicly reported on Physician Compare. The ACO measures are reported as a percent performance rates.

5. This is the first year that CMS publicly reported a small subset of the 2016 PQRS group-level measures on the profile pages as star ratings. You can find out more about how the star ratings were reached here.
