Castle Rock Adventist Hospital 1st in Colorado to acquire BrightMatter neurosurgery system: 5 highlights

Practice Management

Castle Rock (Colo.) Adventist Hospital is the first in the state to adopt Synaptive Medical's BrightMatter technology.

Here are five highlights:

1. BrightMatter provides neurosurgeons visualization tools, informatics, surgical planning and navigation to perform minimally invasive, patient specific surgery for both cranial and spinal procedures.

2. The system automatically processes whole brain tractography for surgical planning of every possible approach, allowing surgeons to see details that can't be seen with the naked eye, as well as access to locations previously deemed inoperable.

3. Surgical plans are integrated into BrightMatter's navigation system, allowing surgeons to see a patient's brain tracts in real time.

4. BrightMatter incorporates a magnification system mounted on a robotic arm that automatically follows the surgeon's tools. This replaces the need to manipulate optic views with a view the entire operating room can see.

5. William Choi, MD, will head the system at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital. Dr. Choi is the director of the Precision Spine Center in Centennial, Colo.
