How many patients do physicians see daily? — 40% report seeing 11-20

In a recent Medscape survey, physicians reported the number of patients they see daily.

Here's what you need to know.

 

1. Physicians reported the following averages on the number of patients they see daily:

 

• 9 percent of physicians see one to 10 patients

• 40 percent of physicians visit 11 to 20 patients

• 36 percent of physicians tally 21 to 30 patients

• 14 percent of physicians see 31 or more patients

 

2. Forty-two percent of primary care physicians and 39 percent of specialists see 11 to 20 patients daily.

 

3. Ten percent of primary care specialists reported seeing 31 or more patients daily, while 16 percent of specialists see 31 or more patients.

 

4. While 10 percent of specialists see one to 10 patients daily, 34 percent reported seeing 21 to 30 patients.

 

5. In addition, 7 percent of primary care patients see one to 10 patients and 41 percent see 21 to 30 patients daily.
