Practice Management

After the House passed the revised American Health Care Act in a 217 to 213 vote on May 4, the Association of American Medical Colleges issued a statement.

Here are four components:

1. AAMC President and CEO Darrell G. Kirch, MD, wrote the association and its member medical schools are disappointed with the passage of the "flawed bill."

2. Dr. Kirch notes the bill would likely yield 24 million additional uninsured Americans.

3. The AAMC calls on the Senate to focus on a solution that delivers "high-quality, affordable, comprehensive coverage for all."

4. Dr. Kirch urges the preservation of Medicaid expansion as well as protection of those with pre-existing conditions.
