Atlanta-based Evoq Medical released blynq, a smartphone application to solve interoperability issues in physician offices communicating with multiple hospitals and EHR systems, which will ultimately help physicians treat patients properly and efficiently.

Here are four things to know:

1. The blynq app delivers patient data to physicians at the point of care, combining clinic and inpatient records from multiple EHRs into an accessible format.

2. Evoq founder and CEO Reuben Buckareff said, "The challenges of EHR interoperability and data security were two of the most talked about issues of concern by healthcare executives at the HIMSS…Annual Conference in Orlando a few weeks ago, and blynq is a solution for both."

3. The cloud-based technology saves physicians one or more minute per patient encounter, a number that adds up to roughly 30 minutes or more per day that allow for increased physician productivity and satisfaction.

4. Implementation of the application only takes two weeks and involves no capital cost.
