Hermiston, Ore.-based Good Shepherd Medical Group recently merged with Hermiston-based Advanced Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute, according to the East Oregonian.

Here are four things to know:

1. Advanced Orthopedics offers orthopedic services for hips, knees, shoulders, sports medicine and total joint surgery.

2. The partnership allows Advanced Orthopedics physicians to focus on patients while Good Shepherd Medical Group handles business-related details of healthcare delivery.

3. Orthopedic surgeon Jeremy Anderson, DO, of Advanced Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute said, "Healthcare is changing…There are more regulations and more demands being placed on independent physician practices. Insurance plans can be a challenge to work with, and we struggle to meet their requirements and still stay competitive."

4. Orthopedic patients will now have the option to bundle payments and take advantage of Good Shepherd's financial assistance options.
