Vice President Joe Biden took the stage at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco earlier this week and discussed a variety of topics, according to a San Francisco Business Times report.

Here are five key areas Mr. Biden discussed in his presentation:

1. He highlighted parts of the "Cancer Moonshot" program, which he heads up, mentioning there are drug combinations that may be able to "do what we've done for HIV."

2. Mr. Biden praised the individuals who created the website trials.cancer.gov, which lists all clinical trials to drive up participation. Increased participation could be helpful for drug companies that sometimes have difficulty connecting with patients for clinical trials.

3. Even as he prepares to leave office, Mr. Biden said he would continue working on forwarding cancer research and treatment. "When I leave office in two weeks, I will be starting an organization that may be called the Biden Cancer Initiative, with similar goals to the Cancer Moonshot to make 10 years' worth of progress in five by changing the way we do business in cancer research and development, and in providing cancer care," he said, according to the report.

4. During the transition between administrations, Mr. Biden offered to help the Trump administration "in any way [he] can."

5. Mr. Biden championed data gathering and discussed data ownership in the fight against cancer, supporting transparency so researchers across the board can use the information to find new cures. He also touched on the cost of care: "Too many Americans are forced to sell their homes or go into bankruptcy, just so their loved ones can get care and hope for a cure. That needs to change while still not undermining the profit motive."
