The Colorado Medical Society has found physician surveys serve as impactful platforms for advocacy surrounding healthcare concerns, according to the AMA Wire.
Back in 2008, the society teamed up with Kupersmit Research for a survey on comprehensive healthcare reform. Met with an abundance of valuable data, the partnership has progressed, conducting surveys on various other topics, like network adequacy and the proposed single-payer system in Colorado.
To conduct useful surveys, the two groups create focus groups with the impacted people. When addressing Amendment 69 — the proposed single-payer system — supporters and opponents shared their opinions in the focus group.
Finishing the survey process involves the Colorado Medical Society publishing the report in its magazine and online, so physicians can actually analyze the data and compare their answers with the general opinions of society members.
In order to encourage physicians to take a survey, Kupersmit Research suggests asking questions on issues that are extremely impactful. Based on survey data, the medical society more readily takes stances on issues such as proposed laws and mergers.
