Cincinnati-based Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has launched a walk-in clinic in its Northern Kentucky location as an alternative to the emergency room, the Cincinnati Business Courrier reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. The clinic opened Oct. 24.

2. The clinic treats fractures, concussions, sprains, strains, dislocations and other orthopedic injuries.

3. David Sower, MD, medical director of the clinic said to the Business Journal, "We truly believe that personalized, on-demand services from specialized physicians is the healthcare of the future."

4. The clinic provides services at a lesser cost than the emergency room, and it is designed to allow people to avoid the traditional emergency room waiting room.
