New York Sports & Joints is adding whole body cryotherapy to its orthopedic, pain management and recovery services.

Here's what you need to know:

1. Cryotherapy is a noninvasive process that works to reduce inflammation, manage chronic pain and promote muscle recovery through the use of short periods of intense cold exposure.

2. The cryotherapy center, run by the company Kryogenesis, will open inside one of the orthopedic practice's New York City office locations.

3. The cryotherapy center will open on Nov. 1. Athletes like Jay Bromley and Kerry Wynn will attend the center's grand opening, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., to discuss their experiences with cryotherapy.
