Physician satisfaction remains low for EHR, although nearly all physicians have them, according to a Peer 60 report.

Here are five things to know:

1. Ambulatory EHR is adopted by 89 percent of hospital-owned ambulatory organizations and 83 percent of independent ambulatory organizations.

2. The smaller ambulatory organizations have lower adoption, with 75 percent of groups of one to 10 physicians having EHR; 95 percent to 100 percent of the larger groups report EHR adoption.

3. Epic was the most popular EHR for ambulatory participants, with 18 percent using it. The second most popular was Allscripts with 7 percent using it, followed by eClinicalWorks with 6 percent.

4. The top physician priorities with the EHR are:

• Patient satisfaction data: 30 percent
• Accountable care: 25 percent
• Alternative payment models: 22 percent
• Patient portal: 15 percent

5. Among first time adaptors of ambulatory EHR, the biggest obstacle is price; 46 percent reported EHRs being too expensive as the biggest obstacle. Another 28 percent said EHRs reducing efficiency was the biggest obstacle while 22 percent cited impending retirement.
