Shriner's Hospital holds orthopedic outreach clinics for patients: 4 thoughts

Practice Management

One-hundred patients visited the Shriners Hospitals for Children and Ruthe B. Cowl Rehabilitation Center recently as part of a patient outreach clinic to children in South Texas and Northern Mexico, lmtonline.com reported.

Here are four thoughts:

1. All the patients that visited the hospital had some sort of an orthopedic disease.

2. Medical staff of the Shriners Houston Hospital and the Lardo Shrine Club partnered in 2012 to establish the temporary outpatient clinic in Laredo, Texas.

3. The goal of the outpatient clinic was to provide more responsive care to patients in Northern Mexico and South Texas while reducing the operating cost.

4. The first clinic was held in 2012 and 23 patients were treated. Now the clinic is held over two days, and this year it saw up to 100 patients.
