Are employed physicians satisfied?

Medicus Firm’s “Physician Practice Preference & Relocation Survey: 2016” sought to answer just that. The survey examined how the increase in physician employment and decrease in privately-owned practice impacted compensation and career satisfaction.

The report found:

1. Twenty-three percent of the respondents said employment had a positive impact on their compensation.

2. Twenty-one percent reported employment had a neutral impact on their compensation.

3. Around 55 percent said employment had a negative impact on their compensation.

4. More than 27 percent said employment had a positive impact on their career satisfaction.

5. About 28 percent said employment had a neutral affect on their career satisfaction.

6. Forty-two percent said employment had a negative impact on career satisfaction.

7. In general, 36.7 percent of the physician respondents said they were satisfied with their compensation while 34.1 percent said they were unsatisfied.

8. Slightly more than half expect their income to stay the same in 2016 as it was in 2015; 2.96 percent expect income to increase and 18.9 percent expect income to decrease.
