5 ways to strengthen the physician-administrator relationship

Practice Management

Podiatric surgeon Mark Birmingham, DPM, provides physicians key ways to improve their relationship with administrators, according to Diagnostic Images.

Here are five ways:

1. Be conscious of their schedules. Don't demand to have something done in the middle of the day. Administrators also have busy schedules, so be conscious of your requests.

2. Actively listen. Make sure you are fully engaged in conversations with the administrator, and ensure all communication is respectful.

3. Meet often. Conduct meetings to go over goals and to make plans to better your practice.

4. Acknowledge their skill-sets. Administrators are trained in running an efficient practice, so let them do the jobs based on their expertise.

5. Support one another.
