Practice Management

CAPG, a leading physician organization, launched a program aimed at helping physicians transition to risk-based care.

Here are five things to know:

1. CAPR Consulting aims to help physicians prepare and navigate greater risk-bearing arrangements.

2. As alterative payment models gain traction, the healthcare industry will demand more educational and support for a smooth transition to risk arrangements.

3. By 2020, accountable care organizations will cover between 105 million patients and 176 million patients.

4. By 2016, CMS set a goal of tying 30 percent of its payments to value-based care. The agency aims to increase that figure to 85 percent by 2018.

5. CAPG composes more than 250 multispecialty medical groups and independent practices.

"CAPG is fortunate to have a group of highly experienced, recently retired CEOs of prominent physician organizations from across the nation ready and willing to help in this extraordinary journey toward risk," said Don Crane, CAPG CEO and president.
