Pediatric physician turned rapper: 5 notes on Dr. Ivy Pointer's creative musical career

Ivy Pointer, MD, of Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed, is spreading the American Academy of Pediatrics' messages with a musical spin, according to abc 11 News.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Pointer takes on an alter-ego, Young I.V., in her music videos promoting good health practices for children.

 

2. Clad in sunglasses and a baseball hat, Young I.V. delivers rap parodies about anything from car seat importance to antibiotic overuse.

 

3. Young I.V. has released videos titled "Croup, there is" and "Viral Funk."

 

4. She began filming the videos with other staff members to promote hospital morale.

 

5. Dr. Pointer works in the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit.
