Independent physician group growth — 10 orthopedic practices expanding

Here are 10 orthopedic practices opening new headquarters, adding significant services and expanding to additional locations within the past few months.

 

Georgia Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery at The Longstreet Clinic opened a new office in Suwanee, Ga. The practice is based in Buford, Ga. The new location is a 4,777-square-foot facility that offers the full spectrum of musculoskeletal care and includes in-office digital imaging.

 

Chicago-based Illinois Bone & Joint Institute opened a new facility in Lincolnwood, Ill. The facility will include sports medicine, rehabilitation, physical therapy and workers compensation care. It's the practice's 47th location.

 

Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan in Grand Rapids opened an OAM NOW urgent care clinic in Kentwood, Mich. This is the practice's second urgent care clinic, which offers same-day appointments for patients with musculoskeletal injuries as well as X-ray, physical therapy and occupational therapy.

 

Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster (Pa.) joined forces with North Pointe Surgery Center and Lancaster General Health to break ground on a $24 million health center — North Cornwall Health Center — to offer comprehensive orthopedic services. The center will also include physical therapy, MRI and outpatient services.

 

Herndon, Va.-based Commonwealth Orthopaedics merged with Richmond-based OrthoVirginia to make the new practice the largest orthopedic group in the state. The new group, which will be combined as of Jan. 1, 2015, includes 82 physicians and 21 office locations. Commonwealth Orthopaedics will become OrthoVirginia.

 

Rockville, Md.-based Shady Grove Orthopaedics started an after-hours injury clinic at its Germantown, Md., location. The clinic will cater to patients who suffer orthopedic injuries outside of office hours and include X-ray capabilities.

 

The Orthopedic Institute of Dayton (Ohio) is planning a new facility in Tipp City, Ohio. The practice currently includes seven locations in the state and the new facility will be 20,000 square feet.

 

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute opened its new 38,000-square-foot headquarters in October. The new facility includes MRI, a sports training complex, a rehabilitation center and pharmacy. There are 17 physicians in the practice.

 

Alabama Orthopedic Spine & Sports Medicine Associates in Birmingham is planning a 33,868-square-foot facility in Trussville, Ala. The new facility will include exam rooms, same day procedure rooms, medical imaging capabilities, physical therapy and a pharmacy.

 

Norwalk, Conn.-based Coastal Orthopaedics is moving to a new location in Norwalk that will include new exam rooms with X-ray facilities, a hand therapy center and waiting areas. The new location also has a walk-in urgent care facility: Coastal Ortho Express.
