Here are 17 statistics on orthopedic surgeon and physician compensation based on annual salary information collected in 2011, according to the Medscape Orthopedist and Orthopedic Surgeon Compensation Report: 2012 Results. Of orthopedic surgeons and physicians surveyed:

  3. 10 percent earned $300,000 to $349,999
  4. 8 percent earned $200,000 to $249,999
  5. 8 percent earned $400,000 to $499,999
  6. 7 percent earned $350,000 to $399,999
  7. 7 percent earned $500,000 to $599,999
  8. 5 percent earned $150,000 to $174,999
  9. 5 percent earned $175,000 to $199,999
  10. 5 percent earned $450,000 to $499,999
  11. 4 percent earned $600,000 to $649,999
  12. 3 percent earned $100,001 to $124, 999
  13. 2 percent earned $125,000 to $149,999
  14. 2 percent earned $650,000 to $699,999
  15. 2 percent earned $700,000 to $749,999
  16. 2 percent earned $750,000 to $999,999
  17. 2 percent earned $1,000,000 or more
