Cash stipends for hospital and healthcare medical directors have changed drastically over the past several years as medical directorships continue to evolve, and chief medical officer directorships usually lead to the highest stipends.
Here are the 10 highest average cash stipend totals in 2011 among varying medical directorships, according to Integrated Healthcare Strategies’ 2011 Medical Director Survey.

2. Pediatric allergy/immunology: $224,266
3. Pediatric child development: $191,110
4. Pediatric gastroenterology: $178,672
5. Research: $147,584
6. Pediatric cardiology: $127,700
