Highland Hospital in New York Expands Joint Center to Meet Increasing Patient Volume

Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., is opening a new unit that will boost neuromedicine services and expand the Evarts Joint Center, according to a hospital news release. The new unit includes 15 private rooms, six step-down beds, a family room and a kitchen. It is dedicated to patients with complex neurological conditions and patients of neurosurgery, spine surgery and head-and-neck surgery.

The addition also provides a second unit for the Evarts Joint Center, allowing it to treat more patients. The number of joint replacement cases at Highland has increased nearly 39 percent from fiscal year 2005 to fiscal year 2011, according to the release.
