The distinction recognizes facilities that provide optimum patient safety and outcomes in knee and hip replacements, based on a set of objective measures developed by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

To earn the distinction from Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the hospital had to demonstrate expertise in hip and knee replacements with low complication and readmission rates.

On average, Blue Distinction Centers+ are 20 percent more cost-efficient in an episode of care compared to facilities without the distinction, according to BCBS.
