Illinois freezes insurance claims payments: 4 things to know

Illinois’s central management services spokeswoman Meredith Krantz said the state is unauthorized to pay insurance claims for 2016, according to illinoishomepage.net.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Illinois froze the insurance claims payments because it is not authorized in the new state budget.

 

2. Premium and benefit policies will remain unchanged.

 

3. More than 140,000 self-insured state workers will be affected by this development.

 

4. Many of these self-insured people will have to pay medical costs in-full, and receive reimbursements at a later date.
