Aspen Orthopaedic closing after 58 years — 5 things to know

Aspen (Colo.) Orthopaedic Associates is closing down on Dec. 31, according to The Aspen Times.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. In 1957, Robert Oden, MD, founded the orthopedics group. It was the first of its kind in the area.

 

2. Physicians at the clinic focused on treating sports injuries.

 

3. The outcome is the result of negotiations between the Aspen Orthopaedic medical group and Aspen Valley Hospital.

 

4. The orthopedic group began negotiations with Aspen Valley Hospital after several physicians left the practice for other medical facilities.

 

5. The hospital is not acquiring Aspen Orthopaedic. After the hospital evaluates its staffing needs, Orthopaedic Associates’ staff can reapply for employment at Aspen Valley Hospital.
