The mean price of malpractice insurance is $9,696 per year, according to the 2015 Physician Compensation Survey conducted by Physicians Practice.

Here are five statistics on how much physicians pay for malpractice insurance:

 

•    Up to $7,000 — 38.55 percent
•    More than $7,000, less than $10,000 — 20.9 percent
•    More than $10,000, less than $15,000 — 20.6 percent
•    More than $15,000, less than $20,000 — 10.1 percent
•    More than $20,000 — 9.9 percent

 

Note: The statistics exclude OB/GYN or surgical specialty physicians.
