Here are five things to know:
1. The partnership began in 2014, with HSS helping two BHG hospitals achieve operating efficiencies. HSS shared its best practices as well as partnered with the hospitals on education and research.
2. Through the existing partnership, HSS worked with BHG to develop strategies that would advance surgical, nonsurgical and rehabilitation outcomes as well as operational efficiencies.
3. As a result of the expanded partnership, HSS will work with the hospitals over the next two years, through 2020, to achieve the HSS Center of Excellence designation. The partners will focus on quality improvement and infection control to achieve certification, which denotes advanced care delivery.
4. If the two South Korean hospitals achieve center of excellence designation, they will become members of the HSS Global Orthopedic Alliance Network.
5. BHG operates four hospitals in South Korea, covering around 1,200 beds.
