Four things to know:
1. The new approach uses 30 HD cameras in a whole body 3D surface imaging system, designed by 3dMD, which obtains the patient’s anatomy using stereophotogrammetry.
2. The study combines topographical mapping using 3dMD and EOS imaging, which determines spinal alignment while reducing exposure to ionizing radiation.
3. X-rays are the current standard for monitoring patients with scoliosis, but extensive radiation exposure can be particularly harmful for young patients.
4. HSS’ goal is to improve the calculation of spinal malalignment with a minimum amount of radiation exposure.
