The report includes responses from 13,575 physicians. The survey was conducted on behalf of The Physicians Foundation by Merritt Hawkins and completed in September 2012.
When asked if they had stopped seeing Medicare or Medicaid patients at their practice due to time or cost constraints, respondents reported the following:
• Yes, Medicare — 8.6 percent
• Yes, Medicaid — 26.7 percent
• No, I have not closed my practice to either — 64.7 percent
