Three insights:
1. The hospital is struggling with debt and preparing for a September close. Last week it decommissioned its position as a Level 1 and Level 2 trauma center.
2. Tower health released a statement offering to continue the training of as many residents and fellows as possible as well as provide lease and job placement assistance for spouses and significant others.
3. If the deal — which is subject to approval by U.S. Bankruptcy Court — goes ahead, the six-hospital health system would see a seismic shift in its physician training program. It has 188 residents and provides a third of the residency programs as Hahnemann does.
