Google’s HR: 5 habits practiced by the best managers

Michelle Donovan and Neal Patel of Google developed an “Upward Feedback Survey” to quantify which behaviors the best managers perform, reports Sault Ste. Marie Evening News.

Here are five key managerial behaviors from the list:

  • They show consideration for their employees and do not micromanage details belonging to other levels of work.
  • They give “actionable feedback” that allows their employees to improve.
  • They clearly communicate and keep their team focused.
  • They regularly share relevant information from their own leadership experience.
  • Every six months they engage in meaningful discussions about career development with their team members.
