Geisinger Health, Highmark developing HealthPlex — 5 insights

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health and payer Highmark partnered to create a healthcare organization that will serve four Pennsylvania counties, The Luminary reports.

What you should know:

1. Highmark and Geisinger both pledged $100 million to the partnership.

2. The partnership will incorporate existing Geinsinger facilities as well as new facilities in Muncy Township, Pa., and Lock Haven, Pa.

3. The partnership will serve Highmark and Geisinger Health Plan members and include those with Medicare Advantage Plans and private insurance plans.

4. Geisinger is building a three-story healthcare facility in Muncy Township that will offer adult and pediatric primary care, orthopedics, cardiology, ophthalmology, pulmonary services and women’s health services. The facility will also feature an operating suite and 20 inpatient beds.

5. Geisinger has not yet detailed the facility in Lock Haven.
