Here are three things to know:
1. The procedure is also known as the Racz procedure.
2. Although the scar tissue may not initially cause pain, it restricts movement of nearby nerves, which can potentially lead to inflammation and pain.
3. Once the patient is asleep, the physician uses a fluoroscope, contrast dye injections, a Racz catheter and hyaluronidase to break up the scarring.
