Former Sen. Tom Harkin named to Masimo’s board of directors: 3 things to know

Irvine, Calif.-based Masimo, a developer of noninvasive patient monitoring technologies, named retired Senator Tom Harkin to its board of directors.

Here are three things to know:

 

1. Former Sen. Harkin retired from the Senate in January 2015. During his time as a senator, he was chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee.

 

2. He worked to provide affordable, quality healthcare for Americans.

 

3. He worked with President Obama to ease restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.

 

“For years, Tom has worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, quality healthcare and those who are in need are not forgotten,” said Joe Kiani, chairman and CEO of Masimo.
