Dr. Carson is an orthopedic surgery specialist at the hospital and replaces Mark Harris, MD, who was appointed to the role in 2017.

A former patient alleged in September that a former medical staff member at the hospital sexually assaulted him and more than a dozen others. Several more former patients have since come forward.

The allegations refer to the period between July 2018 to July 2019.

The FBI and the Veterans Affair’s Office of Inspector General are investigating the claims.
