3. Dr. Collins met with President Donald Trump last week, and wants to continue serving as director. The Washington Post reports Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) and entrepreneur Patrick Soon-Shiong may also be up for the position.

5. If not reappointed, Dr. Collins will continue his post in an NIH lab as a geneticist.
6. The Washington Post reports the Trump transition team has kept on about 50 senior Obama officials for now, to “ensure continuity in government.”
