Americans have varying opinions about whether the Affordable Care Act has helped or hurt their families, although many say they haven’t seen a direct impact.

The Kaiser Family Foundation conducted a survey asking Americans — Democrats, Republicans and Independents — about how the ACA has affected them so far. The answers vary by party:

 

Democrats

 

1. Helped: 28 percent
2. Hurt: 11 percent
3. No direct impact: 59 percent

 

Republicans

 

4. Helped: 5 percent
5. Hurt: 48 percent
6. No direct impact: 46 percent

 

Independents

 

7. Helped: 18 percent
8. Hurt: 27 percent
9. No direct impact: 54 percent

 

Total

 

10. Helped: 18 percent
11. Hurt: 28 percent
12. No direct impact: 52 percent
