Hospital officials plan to convert 10,000 square-feet of soccer fields into additional medical space. Currently, MidState Medical Center is using portable trailers for surgical offices to accommodate for the lack of space.

The additional space would accommodate for the influx in vascular and cardiology procedures. Additionally, MidState Medical Center proposed adding 10 beds to the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute. With the additions, the orthopedic institute would comprise 31 private beds.

The city is currently considering the possibility of relocating the soccer fields. No site plans have been filed, and the hospital is in talks with city officials about the expansion plans.
