The 172-bed community hospital expanded its neurology and stroke team to prevent patients from traveling elsewhere for care, Lakewood Regional CEO John Grah told LBBJ.
“It’s more convenient for the patients — they only have to go to one office and get to know one hospital and one set of folks,” Mr. Grah said. “Lab tests don’t get redone, X-rays don’t get redone just because they’re seeing a different doctor with a different specialty in [a] different practice.”
The neurosurgeons will practice out of a new 1,521-square-foot clinic in Lakewood that includes five patient rooms and office space.
The seven neurosurgeons and their specialty areas:
- Brian Lee, MD, movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy
- Bryan Oh, MD, lumbar spinal stenosis, cervical spinal stenosis and cervical radiculopathy
- Charles Liu, MD, PhD, epilepsy, brain tumors and meningioma
- Darrin Lee, MD, PhD, trigeminal neuralgia, Parkinson’s disease and essential tremors
- Jonathan Russin, MD, aneurysms, and brain and spinal arteriovenous malformations
- Joseph Chen, MD, brain tumors, pituitary tumors and spinal tumors
- Vivek Mehta, MD, brain tumors, brain trauma and hydrocephalus
